Duties include: Promote the safety of citizens and first responders by receiving and prioritizing all emergency and non-emergency requests.Process inquiries, complaints, information, and emergency calls from the public and other county agency in an appropriate and timely fashion by telephone, radio, orally, or written reports.Use various computer systems to create and maintain records and logs of activities, monitor calls, access information, and enter information as required.Receive, transmit, and monitor multiple radio channels.Request, receive, and disseminate large amounts of public, private, and confidential data linked to state, federal, and local law enforcement systems through computerized terminals linked to the aforementioned agencies.Obtain all necessary information from callers to determine incident location utilizing maps and other available tools and relay that information to responding personnel to maximize the accuracy and speed of dispatch.Provide information via communication systems to coordinate the activities of emergency and other public safety personnel who are engaged in responding.Notify appropriate command staff of emergency events as policy dictates. EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent (GED/HiSet) required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The successful candidate must be at least 18 years of age with no felony convictions.The ability to obtain the following minimum certifications:APCO Public Safety TelecommunicatorICS 100, ICS 200, and ICS 700SPOTSThe ability to use continually evolving equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers, 911 equipment, recording devices, telephones, and radios.The ability to maintain confidentiality and a knowledge of data privacy laws.Knowledge of geographical layout, emergency service areas, and road systems of Carroll County.Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deliver services in a respectful, responsive, and solution-oriented manner.The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm in an atmosphere of changing priorities and periods of high stress.The ability to communicate effectively to solicit information and tactfully and efficiently deal with a variety of people, including those who are frightened, incoherent, hostile, verbally abusive, and/or under great stress.The ability to perform work with a high level of accuracy, concentration, and attention to detail.Company DescriptionJoin the nearly 300 dedicated employees of Carroll County and make a difference every day.
