The Due Diligence Underwriter will be responsible for the due diligence or the company portfolio and expediting resolutions to cure/clear loans for securitization. Perform reviews on residential mortgages for regulation and compliance accuracy. Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures with adherence to regulations and applicable laws. The target compensation range for this position is $65,700 to 93,900 annually.
What You'll Do:
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of mortgage industry credit guidelines and policies for Non-Agency, Non-QM, FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA to be able to identify any credit issues and recommend an appropriate remediation.
- Demonstrate a high level of fluency of complex personal and business financial analysis to include credit, income, assets and compliance documentation.
- Analyze tax returns and /or financial statements for Self-Employed Borrowers, Partnerships, S Corporations and/or C Corporations for accuracy of income calculations.
- Exhibit working knowledge of AUS analysis to determine applicable loan conditions
- Exhibit working knowledge of appraisal evaluation to identify deficiencies therein
- Exhibit strong analytic ability, good judgment, strategic and multidimensional thinker
- Record and articulate inconsistencies throughout documentation review
- Examine Agency and Investor deficiency’s, audit request and repurchase demands for remediation
- Examine challenged Inventory loans for remediation
- Work with external and internal auditors as necessary
- Monitor and manage workflow details related to the role
- Works directly with management team
What You'll Need:
- A solid working expertise with compliance rules, RESPA, TRID, credit guidelines and underwriting.
- Must be able to calculate and verify income and assets, evaluate of credit reports, purchase contracts, appraisals, title commitments, and other loan pertinent documentation
- Adept product knowledge of Non-Agency/Non-QM, Agency Conventional, FHA, VA and USDA.
- Knowledge of mortgage industry concepts, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of mortgage guidelines, regulations, compliance, and due diligence practices.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- A working knowledge of Encompass 360
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks and manage time wisely.
- Superior analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Six (6) or more years’ experience in mortgage banking or related industry.
- Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience in an underwriting, compliance or QC role
