Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinates clinical sites in which students receive clinical experience.
- Collaborates with making student assignments and placements with faculty.
- May supervise, select, educate, and evaluate the clinical faculty and preceptors as required by Dean of Nursing.
- Assist in the orientation of new faculty to their clinical assignments, as necessary.
- Ensures that the clinical affiliation agreements are in place and are current.
- Maintain and distribute the necessary documents for student clinical experiences.
- May assist in evaluating student performance against program objectives through feedback from clinical instructors. This may include personal observations; provides regular feedback to students to ensure strengths and opportunities are managed appropriately.
- Provide feedback to assist in the evaluation of clinical sites and clinical instructors against program objectives and accreditation criteria. This will include providing information to the Dean of Nursing for evaluation purposes.
- May receive, verify, and track student attendance.
- May ensure registrar’s records are accurate and student have completed required clinical hours.
- Problem solves student and site issue to ensure that program mission and goals are met.
- Participates in any activities assigned by academic leadership to support the clinical experience including student review, In-Services Training, and curriculum review.
- Build effective relationships and partnerships in the professional community. Has a working knowledge of the community needs, facilities, and how they operate to better serve the college in providing optimal clinical experiences for students.
- May be required to cover for clinical faculty when the need arises.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Education And/or Experience
- Associate degree from a surgical technology program accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
- CST License
- BLS for Healthcare Provider
- (1) Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA). (2) Have a minimum of 3 years of documented experience either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both with the past 5 years.
