Job Overview
Carrigan Excavating is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment & Diesel Mechanic – Excavation Fleet to support our Field Operations team by maintaining and repairing our fleet of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. This role is essential to keeping our operations running safely and efficiently across residential, commercial, and government projects.

Key Responsibilities
Create, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program
Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures on fleet vehicles, semi-trucks, and equipment
Read and interpret work orders, schematics, and service manuals
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and required documentation
Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies
Maintain inventory of parts and order supplies as needed
Coordinate equipment and material needs with the Operations Manager
Negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing on parts
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and jobsite environment
Respond to emergency repair needs as required
Adapt to varying work conditions, including occasional outdoor and seasonal weather exposure
Qualifications
3 years of experience working as a mechanic with heavy equipment, trucks, and semi-trucks preferred
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Valid driver’s license without restrictions
Certified Diesel Mechanic preferred
Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and fleet management
Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics and service manuals
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds regularly
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying seasonal conditions
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with field teams
