Job Description:
Good Grief Law is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Paralegal to join our growing practice in South Charleston, West Virginia. This position may be structured as full-time or part-time depending on the candidate.
This is not an administrative or receptionist role. We are looking for a true paralegal with formal training and experience handling substantive legal work, particularly in client-focused practice areas.
Our firm focuses on estate planning and elder law, and we serve clients navigating aging, incapacity, and loss. This role involves significant client interaction, so professionalism, patience, and compassion are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and assist with estate planning documents (wills, trusts, powers of attorney, etc.)
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information and guide them through legal processes
- Manage case files, deadlines, and document organization
- Coordinate with the attorney to ensure efficient case progression
- Maintain accurate and organized client records
Qualifications:
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience required
- Prior experience as a paralegal required (estate planning or elder law preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
- Professional, friendly, and patient demeanor with clients
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience in estate planning, probate, or elder law
- Experience working in a client-facing legal environment
