Position Summary
The Mentor supports the Director of Quality Control by their involvement and relationship with residents. The primary goal of the mentor is to help residents achieve their goals and improve their quality of life through a collaborative process by assessing, planning, and facilitating connections to services, resources, and supports needed to reach desired outcomes. Mentors must use appropriate resources and empower residents as they pursue housing and address other needs critical to ending their housing crises. Mentors will help residents develop housing plans, and ensure residents fulfill associated goals and objectives. The following list of duties and responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive, other tasks and functions may be assigned by the Executive Director.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform assessment interview within one week of intake with individual residents.
- Maintain a mentoring relationship with residents by scheduling and conducting regular meetings.
- Consistently review and challenge residents to meet their occupational, housing, and vocational goals.
- Connect residents with available resources in order to better one’s current situation.
- Maintain records of meeting and progress through the Homeless Management
Information System (HMIS).
- Update Lead Mentor during weekly case reviews.
- Work with the Resident Life Team to set up classes, workshops, and community events to effectively help residents gain access to necessary resources.
- Contribute to a safe and orderly environment for staff, residents, and visitors.
- Understand all Expectations and Responsibilities.
- Understand roles and duties of other employees (such as Resident Coach and Transitional Employees) and support them in their role as a part of the ministry team.
- Handle all internal and external communications with respect and professionalism.
- Faithfully complete daily log to provide documentation and communication amongst staff.
- Assist with Resident Coach duties and responsibilities in case of staff shortage or emergency.
- Share the gospel of Christ effectively through words, attitudes, and actions as appropriate opportunities arise.
Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of CTM leadership, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

Qualifications
The following qualifications are required to be considered for this position:
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a case manager.
- 2 years of experience working with the unhoused population, mental health, substance use, and awareness of trauma-informed care are required..
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other necessary applications.
- Coordinate with external agencies and service providers to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Believe and adhere to the Carriage Town Ministries’ Statement of Faith.
- Agree to adhere to the policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Education and Training
The following education and training are required to be considered for this position:
- Associate's degree in Social Services, Human Services, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Leadership experience
- Completion of recommended Carriage Town Ministries training programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; frequently = 34%-66%; continuously = 67%-100%.
Typical office environment working onsite, primarily indoors with some outdoor work.
Occasionally: must be able to lift up to 20 pounds, bend or stretch, some local travel required
Frequently: walking, talking, climbing stairs, manual dexterity
Continuously: sitting, adequate vision and hearing, good mental condition to withstand consistently medium to high levels of stress
