Maintenance Assistant
Job Summary:
Join our Carriage House Nursing and Rehab team as a Maintenance Assistant! We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to supervise the day-to-day activities of our Maintenance Department and ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the daily maintenance functions of assigned personnel
Develop procedures for performing daily maintenance tasks
Coordinate daily maintenance services with Nursing Services when performing maintenance assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas
Ensure that work schedules are followed as closely as practical
Perform administrative requirements (i.e., completing necessary forms, reports, etc.)
Submit accident/incident reports to the Administrator on the shift in which they occurred
Ensure resident safety
Present a positive image of the facility to all customers, such as job applicants, families, and the community
Additional Responsibilities:
Implement recommendations from the Infection Control and Safety Committees
Attend department and staff meetings as directed or called
Report daily absenteeism and tardiness
Meet with assigned personnel to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or improving services
Review and evaluate the work performance of assigned personnel
Requirements:
Technical school education of HVAC theory and repair
Thorough knowledge of HVAC repair, carpentry, electrical theory, plumbing, low voltage alarm systems, and department management experience
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner
Leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise non-professional personnel
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the program, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the Maintenance Department
Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices
Ability to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively and tactfully with residents, personnel, visitors, general public, and outside agencies
Weekend rotation required
Work Environment:
Works throughout the facility (i.e., power rooms, resident rooms, therapy rooms, dietary, etc.)
Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours
Is subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule maintenance activities
Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.
