POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Volunteer Coordinator supports the success of Carpinteria Children’s Project (CCP) by managing all aspects of volunteer engagement across the organization. This includes recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, recognition, and tracking of volunteers for CCP programs, events, and initiatives. The Volunteer Coordinator ensures that volunteers are well-supported and meaningfully connected to CCP’s mission. This position reports directly to the Director of Development and works closely with program directors and administrative staff.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to attract diverse community members.
  • Conduct volunteer interviews, reference checks, and orientations.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and ensure compliance with background checks and organizational policies.
  • Match volunteers to opportunities that align with their skills, interests, and availability.

Volunteer Management and Support

  • Schedule and coordinate volunteers for programs, special events, classroom activities, and administrative projects.
  • Maintain consistent communication with volunteers, providing updates, guidance, and support.
  • Create volunteer training materials and assist with training sessions.
  • Track volunteer hours and contributions for reporting and recognition purposes.

Community Engagement and Events

  • Collaborate with staff to identify ongoing volunteer needs.
  • Support special events by recruiting, scheduling, and managing volunteers before, during, and after events.
  • Represent CCP at community fairs, school events, and outreach opportunities to promote volunteerism.
  • Develop partnerships with local businesses, service clubs, and schools to encourage group volunteerism.

Recognition and Retention

  • Plan and execute volunteer appreciation activities, including thank-you events and recognition communications.
  • Maintain relationships with long-term volunteers and alumni groups.
  • Collect and share volunteer impact stories for newsletters, social media, and reports.

Administrative and Organizational Support

  • Maintain volunteer database and ensure accurate, timely data entry.
  • Prepare monthly reports summarizing volunteer activities and hours.
  • Assist with marketing and communication materials related to volunteer engagement.
  • Support CCP’s broader mission by collaborating with other departments as needed.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned or deemed necessary by the Director of Development or Executive Director.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Alignment and sincere affinity for the mission, vision, and values of Carpinteria Children’s Project.
  • Superb interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • High energy, positive “can-do” attitude, flexibility, creativity, and close attention to detail with a high degree of initiative.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Expertise utilizing fundraising software, Google Office platform, and video conferencing.
  • Track record of leveraging data for decision making and to influence decision makers.
  • Donor and volunteer service mentality.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 29.5 per week
