Job Overview

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and driving efficiency across the organization. Developing and implementing growth strategies and business development initiatives. Leading a team and fostering a culture of collaboration, engagement, and innovation and partnering with other departments to align business goals and ensure seamless operations.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Establish profitable methods of purchasing for fabrication, final assembly and Service Parts.
  • Coordinate and communicate parts production in order to manufacture industrial equipment consisting of sheet metal, machined, welded, electrical and highly intense manual assembly.
  • Establish efficient parts production schedule and plan in conjunction with Master Scheduler for industrial. equipment consisting of sheet metal, machined, welded, electrical and highly intense manual assembly.
  • Use Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve quality, reduce cost, complete on-time delivery, ensure safety customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures.
  • Supervise and manage direct and indirect full-time and temporary personnel.
  • Establish best practices to meet production based upon product mix to provide maximum crated dollars per labor hour.
  • Establish and maintain safety program and continuous safety improvement plan
  • Utilize SAP, MS Office programs and manual tools to calculate and record transaction data to match shop floor activity and achieve continuous improvement goals.
  • Establish inventory management plans to control inventory in proportion with production.
  • Determine cost effective methods for internal maintenance and MRO buying.
  • Execute project management techniques for achieving milestones, cost and schedule goals.
  • Assist in the implementation of new products and design changes.
  • Assist in purchase of fixtures, tooling, and equipment calibration.
  • Make cost-improving make vs. buy decisions.
  • Achieve set cost and schedule goals.

Must communicate well with all departments and have above average management skills.

Educational / Computer / Work Experience Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, or other relevant technical degree preferred plus 6 years minimum technical, related supervisory experience.
  • MRP/ERP Expertise
  • CPIM, APICS certification helpful
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • SAP Experience Preferred
  • CNC sheet metal and machining training

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lead and make sound decisions with minimal oversight in order to prioritize and deliver tasks on time and manage expectations
  • Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Highly skilled in prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Experience and proficiency in SAP
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish or English/Italian preferred
