What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Parent position at Carpenter Place?
Carpenter Place, formerly Maude Carpenter Children’s Home, has been serving deeply hurting children since the mid-1940’s. Located in the heart of Wichita, Kansas, established as an outreach ministry of the Churches of Christ, our mission is to nurture deeply hurting girls to a restored relationship with God, family, and community. We can serve up to 14 girls in our Christian Family Program, ages 12-18 years old. Carpenter Place is 100% private in our funding and our placement, which means we can also serve girls from anywhere. We are currently searching for a mission-minded couple with a passion to nurture deeply hurting girls. This job requires high energy, the commitment to put the needs of those in your care before your own, the ability to work as a member of a team, and a daily readiness to meet each challenge with a servant’s heart.
Qualifications
•An active member of a church
•Must be in sound spiritual, mental, and physical health
•Able to work as a part of a team
•Successful completion of high school or a GED; college experience is a plus
•Valid driver’s license with no criminal record
•Outstanding references from their church leaders
Job description - Including, but not limited to:
•Conduct daily devotional studies
•Assist girls with their emotional and physical needs
•Provide an example of a healthy, Christian marriage
•Active involvement in weekly church activities (i.e. worship, class, youth group events)
•Demonstrate grace, forgiveness, appropriate conflict resolution, and how to correctly handle mistakes
•Model a daily life of faith
•Provide a welcoming, stable, clean, and safe environment for our girls to live in
•Care for the house in which the couple lives and the vehicles entrusted to their care
•Keep written records required by Carpenter Place, Inc. policy (i.e. Daily Resident Log, Medication Logs, etc.)
•Join the girls in experiences (Camps, lake house trips, etc.)
•Handle other assignments, projects, and teams as assigned by the CEO
