Carpenter & Paterson, Inc. is currently hiring for a full-time Shipping Clerk to work out of one of our offices in Ellijay, GA. The Shipping Clerk is responsible for overseeing shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy in materials handling, and coordinating cost-effective delivery methods. This role supports warehouse efficiency and contributes to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Essential Duties:
- Prepare shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; select the most economical and efficient shipping method.
- Generate bills of lading and verify shipment details against work orders.
- Receive and inspect incoming materials; verify accuracy against purchase orders.
- Document and report any shipment discrepancies or damages to management and purchasing.
- Trace lost shipments and manage customer claims; initiate proof of delivery documentation.
- Maintain shipping/receiving records and department database; prepare routine reports.
- Follow established departmental policies and continuous improvement objectives.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Occasionally drive to deliver or pick up products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Days/Shift:
- Monday thru Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
Ideal Candidate:
- Prior experience in shipping, receiving, and general warehouse operations.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and complete routine administrative tasks.
- Basic computer literacy (e.g., email, spreadsheets, inventory systems).
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to lift and carry items over 50 pounds.
