Job Summary
We are looking for a mature, career-minded Non-Ferrous Metal Buyer to manage and operate our busy retail Metal Dock. This is a hands-on leadership role working directly with private sellers, contractors, and industrial accounts. You will be responsible for scaling, grading, negotiating, sorting, and purchasing all grades of non-ferrous scrap metal while supervising a small team of 1–2 dock personnel.

Responsibilities
- Purchase, grade, and negotiate non-ferrous scrap from walk-in customers, contractors, and companies
- Accurately scale, sort, and process all incoming material
- Supervise, train, and lead 1–2 dock team members
- Operate forklifts, Bobcat/skid steer, alligator shears, large 2-stage balers, handheld spectrometers, computers, and printers
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dock area
- Provide excellent customer service while protecting company margins
- Work occasional overtime and participate in a rotating Saturday schedule
Experience
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience working on a scrap metal dock (non-ferrous buying and grading required)
- Proven ability to operate forklifts, Bobcat/skid steer, alligator shears, and large balers
- Experience with handheld spectrometers and accurate grading of copper, brass, aluminum, stainless, etc.
- Reliable personal transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Strong work ethic, honesty, and a no-drama, professional attitude
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and lift 50 lbs regularly
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
