Overview:
We are seeking a Safety Manager to join our team. The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace safety programs for all residential carpentry and construction operations. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety among field crews, and works to prevent workplace injuries, property damage, and safety violations. The Safety Manager will regularly visit job sites, conduct training, perform inspections, and support project teams in maintaining safe work practices. A company vehicle will be provide.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, state, and local safety regulations.
- Maintain the company’s written safety program and update it as needed.
Job-site Inspections
- Conduct regular job-site safety inspections for residential construction projects.
- Identify hazards and work with supervisors to correct unsafe conditions.
- Document inspections, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
Training & Education
- Provide safety training for carpenters, laborers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Conduct toolbox talks and ongoing safety education programs.
- Ensure employees are trained in fall protection, ladder safety, power tools, PPE, and job-site hazard awareness.
Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and property damage incidents.
- Prepare reports identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Track incident trends and recommend prevention strategies.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, training documentation, and incident reports.
- Assist with regulatory inspections and audits.
- Ensure proper documentation of safety meetings and certifications.
Field Support
- Work closely with field operations to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Provide guidance on safe work practices for framing, trim, sheathing, and other carpentry tasks.
- Monitor proper use of PPE and safety equipment.
Safety Culture Development
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the company.
- Encourage employee participation in hazard identification and safety improvement.
- Recognize and reinforce safe work practices.
Qualifications:
Required
- 3–5 years of construction safety experience, preferably in residential construction or carpentry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards related to construction.
- Experience conducting safety training and job-site inspections.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between job sites.
Preferred
- OSHA 30-hour Construction certification.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- CHST, STS, or other safety certification.
- Experience in residential framing, carpentry, or general construction.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk active construction sites.
- Ability to climb ladders and access elevated work areas.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
