Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Specialist at our Piedmont manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the overall plant sourcing and purchasing activities which includes monitoring inventory and coordinating the receipt of materials.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Purchasing Specialist , you will also inform the Customer Service Representative of any fulfillment issues and works to resolve potential problems with order fulfillment.
Your additional responsibilities as Purchasing Specialist will include:
- Issues purchase orders, confirms order details, and tracks deliveries to ensure on time receipt
- Planning, placement, and tracking of materials orders
- Monitors inventory levels and works with operations to forecast materials purchasing needs
- Schedules receipt of materials which requires a good understanding of shipping, exporting and importing regulations and processes
- Resolves issues related to pricing, quantity discrepancies or damaged goods
- Cost Analysis Activities
- Backs up Customer Service as needed
Skills and Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic knowledge of SAP
