Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Lab Technician at our Temple, TX manufacturing plant. This position performs various physical properties testing as specified by a set of quality standards and company/customer requirements. Start time for shift is 4:00 am

Additional responsibilities of the Lab Technician will include:
- Accurately measure test blocks of prime foam and carpet cushion for height, width and length.
- Operate computerized saws and band saws for sample preparation.
- Accurately weigh top skin, side skin, bottom skin, trim weight.
- Test foam for: Density, Indentation Force Deflection, Air Permeability, Resiliency, Compression Sets, Tear, Tensile and Elongation as per Company and Customer specifications.
- Record any visual defects such as splits, buck shot, veins, etc.
- Coordinate odor panel tests as required.
- Operate precision lab testing equipment such as various scales, United Testing machines, high pressure auto clave, various flammability chambers, ovens, static meter, micrometers, rulers, porosity machine, die cutting machine and titrator when needed.
- Perform flammability testing on foam and fiber.
- Accurately enter all test data.
- Maintain all Quality records.
- Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.

Employment Type: Full-Time - Typical work schedule Monday-Friday 4:00 am - Noon with overtime as needed.
Skills/ Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
- Some previous manufacturing and machine operation experience preferred.
- Must have the ability to read a interpret a tape measure.
- Basic Computer knowledge and ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime
- Some Forklift experience
