Our first and only rehearsal (which will be virtual) will be October 3rd at 2pm. Then, there will be an in-person reading open to an audience on October 16th in midtown Manhattan, NY at 6:00pm.
SYNOPSIS
A new one-act dramedy with some original music. The main character Lucy for short, or more commonly known as Lucifer, once Heaven’s ultimate fallen angel, now determined to prove that she has changed—has been asked by Father to invite a human named Greg to brunch… Bottomless brunch. What begins as an otherworldly bottomless brunch soon takes on the uncomfortable familiarity of a dysfunctional family gathering. Through sharp comedy, heartfelt moments, and some original music, Brunch explores forgiveness, redemption, family, and the possibility of becoming something different from what everyone expects you to be. Beneath the jokes and heavenly chaos lies a surprisingly human question: Can someone truly change, or are we forever defined by our past? As the characters finally begin to confront their conflicts, old wounds are acknowledged, misunderstandings are resolved, and an unlikely sense of connection emerges around the table. For a moment, it seems Lucifer has finally found her way back to the light.
ROLES:
(If your ethnicity does not match the specifications listed, please feel free to still apply, as this is a new play. We are open to altering characters depending upon the actors choices! The character’s of Lucy and Greg MUST BE TALENTED SINGERS. However, for the character of Lucy, feel free to apply, even if you do not have the instrument skills listed.)
FATHER— Latnix and African American mixed ethnicity. Dress and appearance gives John Stamos vibes. He has a slight salt and pepper hair, is extremely handsome, and is extremely well dressed. Age range 45-50
JESUS— Middle Eastern ethnicity. Has similar well dressed style to Father, however, more modern. Like the pastors who wear jeans and sneakers, with a blazer. Age range 25-35.
HOLY SPIRIT— Ethnicity caucasian. He looks like he could be the leader of a motorcycle gang. His hair is grey; he has a long grey beard. He wears a leather motorcycle jacket that says “Holy” on the back. Age range 50-70
LUCY— Any ethnicity, fiery, must be able to play the violin, cello, and piano. Age range 25-35
GREG— Any ethnicity. Must be an exceptional singer and play piano. Age range 20-30.
MICHAEL— Any ethnicity. Huge in stature, muscular. Age range 25-35.
