Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and knowledgeable Tutor to provide personalized academic support to students in math and/or science subjects (middle school through AP/early college level. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in educational methodologies and be able to adapt their teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of each student. This role is essential in fostering a positive learning environment and helping students achieve their academic goals.
Duties
- Assess students' strengths and weaknesses to develop tailored lesson plans.
- Provide instruction in subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and more.
- Utilize learning technologies and resources to enhance the tutoring experience and engage students effectively.
- Support classroom management by establishing clear expectations and maintaining a conducive learning atmosphere.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly to ensure comprehension and retention of material.
- Foster a supportive relationship with students, encouraging them to ask questions and express their learning needs.
- Collaborate with management to discuss student progress and areas for improvement.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge in Mathematics ranging from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus (up to an AP Calculus level is preferred)
- Experience working with students in either a 1 on 1 or group educational setting (3 years experience required)
- Minimum Education of (or enrolled in ) a Bachelor's Degree in a field of science, math, engineering, or technology is required.
- Familiarity with learning technologies that can enhance the tutoring experience.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in an understandable manner.
- A passion, motivation, and patience for educating and helping students succeed academically.
- A degree or coursework in education or a related field is advantageous but not required.
- Ability to tutor subjects in sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science is a plus but not required.
Compensation
- Hourly pay ranges from $20-$40 depending on tutor qualifications and student subject level. Rates for middle school or foundational subjects start at $20-30 hour. Tutors working with students in AP or college-level subjects may qualify for higher rates up to $40 an hour maximum.
- Tutors set their own availability and can choose how many hours they want to work.
