Caroline County is accepting applications for the position of Utility Billing Clerk. This position works in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment with significant telephone and in-person customer contact and serves as a primary point of contact for the day-to-day operations of Utility Billing.
The Utility Billing Clerk provides professional and courteous customer service to residential and commercial utility customers. Responsibilities include assisting customers with questions and requests related to new water and sewer accounts, meter services, utility payments, move-ins and move-outs, account balances, delinquent accounts, and other utility billing matters.
The position also performs a variety of clerical, administrative, and accounting-related duties associated with the County's utility billing system, including maintaining accurate customer account information, processing payments and account adjustments, preparing and maintaining records, and assisting with other Utility Billing functions as needed.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Accounting, bookkeeping, clerical, administrative, or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Experience with AS400 or similar utility billing/accounting systems is highly desirable.
- Considerable accounting and clerical experience is preferred.
Salary & Benefits
The hiring range for this position is $46,404.41 – $51,221.79, depending on qualifications and experience.
