The Assistant Manager of the Gift Shop is responsible for operating the gift shop, leading merchandising staff, monitoring inventory and labor goals, and providing excellent customer service.
They work closely with the Gift Shop Manager/Buyer to maintain a consistent flow of merchandise and execute merchandise plans.
The Assistant Manager of the Gift Shop handles routine and non-routine tasks without close supervision, understands company policies and procedures, and represents the organization when working with staff. Salary based on experience.
Other duties include:
• Provide efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly service to meet or exceed guest expectations.
• Establish respectful relationships inside and outside the organization.
• Supervise staff, delegate tasks and maintain store coverage.
• Follow opening and closing procedures, manage deposits and communicate discrepancies to management.
• Manage inventory, receive merchandise and contact vendors regarding discrepancies.
• Knowledge of Excel, point of sale systems and data base access helpful.
• Maintain Gift Shop web site and assist Manager with marketing initiatives.
• Participate in the development of annual goals, objectives and budget for the Gift Shop.
• Prepare sales reports by analyzing and categorizing sales information.
• Partner with team members to restock the store during and after operating hours.
• Maintain awareness of store surroundings to prevent theft and loss.
