What are the responsibilities and job description for the Private Chef on Boat position at Carolina Yacht Charters?
This is a part-time role, working only when we have booked charters. In season, we typically will have 4-6 chef bookings per month.
Carolina Yacht Charters is seeking an experienced, dependable Private Yacht Chef to join our team on a per-booking basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating elevated, fresh meals in a unique and fast-paced luxury hospitality setting.
Charters range from 2-hour experiences to 24-hour overnight bookings and may include breakfast, lunch, dinner, curated appetizers, or a combination of offerings. Menus are pre-selected by guests prior to boarding, and all meals are prepared fresh and served aboard the yacht.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fresh, high-quality breakfast, lunch, dinner, and appetizer offerings based on pre-selected guest menus
- Source and shop for all ingredients, prioritizing fresh, quality products
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special guest requests
- Safely transport, prepare, cook, plate, and serve food aboard the yacht
- Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary galley and food-service area throughout the charter
- Complete all cleaning associated with food preparation, service, and kitchen areas following each booking
- Work closely with the captain and charter team to provide a seamless guest experience
- Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and a hospitality-first mindset during all charters
Qualifications
- Prior private chef, yacht chef, catering, restaurant, or high-end hospitality experience preferred
- Strong ability to create and execute polished meals in a limited-space environment
- Comfortable working independently and adapting to changing charter schedules
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food storage
- Ability to accommodate a variety of dietary restrictions and preferences
- Dependable transportation and availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Professional appearance and excellent guest-service skills
