Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Student Data Specialist to support the accurate management of student records and data systems. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with state and federal reporting requirements while maintaining the integrity of student information within the district’s student information system (PowerSchool).
Key Responsibilities - Student Records & Enrollment
- Process student registrations, enrollments, and withdrawals, ensuring all required documentation is verified
- Maintain accurate student records in compliance with district and state guidelines
- Monitor enrollment counts and submit required reports during key reporting windows
Attendance Management
- Maintain and update daily attendance records
- Communicate with families regarding absences, tardies, and early dismissals
- Track chronic absenteeism and support intervention processes
Data Management & Reporting
- Ensure accurate coding for state and federal reporting (e.g., funding, program participation)
- Prepare and submit required reports (e.g., 45-, 90-, 135-, and 180-day reports)
- Maintain knowledge of SC Department of Education data requirements and procedures
Scheduling & Grades
- Assist with student scheduling and schedule changes
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts and grade discrepancies
- Support teachers and administrators with reporting and data corrections
Collaboration & Compliance
- Work with school staff and district departments to ensure data accuracy
- Support attendance teams and participate in meetings as needed
- Respond to internal and external data requests
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in data management, office operations, or a related field
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with student information systems (PowerSchool preferred)
- Knowledge of state reporting systems and data validation tools
- Experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.)
- Additional post-secondary education or equivalent experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer
- Occasional standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds
