Overview:
The Foster Care Staff Trainer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive training programs for foster care staff. This role focuses on enhancing staff competencies, ensuring compliance with state regulations and best practices, and supporting the professional development of team members working within the foster care system.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Reports to the Foster Care Director
· Track and document all employee training, hours and certificates and ensure that all employees are compliant with training
requirements from state regulations, CARF and DHHS.
· Design, implement, and facilitate training programs for onboarding and existing foster care staff.
· Create a monthly calendar with training dates of training.
· Ensure all new staff have one on one training for the first 60 days of their employment.
· Ensure training content aligns with current laws, policies, trauma-informed care practices, and child welfare standards.
· Use a variety of instructional methods, including in-person workshops, virtual sessions, and self-paced modules.
· Collaborate with supervisors and program leaders to tailor training programs to staff roles and performance goals.
· Conduct regular training needs assessments to identify knowledge or skills gaps.
· Develop and maintain up-to-date training materials, manuals, and resources.
· Evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and modify content based on feedback and outcomes.
· Ensure training programs meet the requirements of North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and other relevant
regulatory bodies.
· Provide ongoing learning opportunities that promote staff growth, retention, and a culture of continuous improvement.
· Stay informed of current trends and evidence-based practices in child welfare and foster care services.

Hours of Work:
There is no “shift rotation” as such, however due the specialized nature of position; it is expected, that the employee will work the hours needed for client services as determined by the supervisor, agency coordinator, treatment team, and Carolina Therapeutic
Services Inc. It is likely that this will occur somewhat regularly. Assignments can occur on weekends and after hours. Due to this after hours work, weekend work can also be assigned as defined by the needs of the needs of the client population.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
· Must be at least 18 years of age, be able to read, write, understand and follow directions, has no substantiated findings of abuse
or neglect listed on NC Health Care Registry, and no criminal convictions.
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services, or a related field.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in foster care, child welfare, or staff development/training.
· Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, child development, and family systems.
· Experience designing and delivering adult learning programs.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and learning management systems (LMS).
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and deliver training programs utilizing skills in instructional design, program design &
development, and training methodologies
· High energy, enthusiastic, motivational training style
· Excellent creative and conceptual thinking abilities
· Understanding of IAFT and TFC services and systems utilized.
· Strong organizational, planning, project management, problem resolution, communication, presentation, facilitation, and
influencing skills required
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
