Carolina PRG is partnering with a growing organization to identify a Senior Property Accountant. This role will be responsible for overseeing the full cycle accounting process for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting operational and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial or residential properties
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and supporting schedules
- Ensure accuracy of general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Maintain property level budgets and assist with forecasting activities
- Partner with property management teams to review financial performance and resolve discrepancies
- Lead the month end close process for assigned properties, ensuring timelines are met
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and tenant ledgers
- Analyze variances and provide clear explanations to leadership
- Review and interpret lease agreements to ensure proper revenue recognition
- Manage CAM reconciliations, rent escalations, and tenant billings
- Partner with operations to ensure accuracy of tenant data and billing structures
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards
- Support audit requests and provide necessary documentation
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiency
- Collaborate cross functionally with asset management, operations, and leadership teams
- Assist with system implementations or enhancements as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- 3 to 6 years of property accounting or real estate accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar property management systems preferred
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
