What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Controller position at CAROLINA PRG?
The Operations Controller will be the business partner to Productions and Logistics for providing analytical support, cost control and analysis, and KPIs to ensure efficiency and profitability under minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead standard cost calculations and updates; maintain material cost data in SAP in alignment with corporate guidelines
- Analyze and report production variances weekly/monthly; translate findings into actionable insights for supervisors and managers
- Partner with Operations to support productivity improvements and cost-saving initiatives
- Monitor and resolve material movement errors to ensure accurate inventory and cost data
- Reconcile inventory transactions and support monthly financial reporting with accurate valuation and analysis
- Manage physical inventory and cycle count processes, ensuring proper financial adjustments and year-round coverage
- Conduct product line profitability analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Oversee month-end controlling close tasks and ensure timely completion of assigned internal controls
- Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Support external auditors during the annual audit, providing documentation and analysis as needed
- Lead and document special projects focused on process improvement and operational efficiency
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred)
- 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Production, Procurement, FP&A and Executive Leadership)
- Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to communicate financial insights across departments
- Experience supporting audits and budgeting processes
