We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Lead RN to join our dedicated team at Carolina Outpatient Detox in Raleigh, NC. The Registered Nurse will play a crucial role in the delivery of compassionate care to individuals undergoing detoxification from substances such as alcohol, opioids, and other drugs. Nurse will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety, comfort, and medical stability throughout the detox process.
Essential Functions
- Perform initial nursing assessments upon patient admission, including health history and evaluation of current physical and mental status.
- Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs and withdrawal symptoms using standardized protocols, intervening as necessary to maintain safety and comfort. Educate the client on medications and potential medication side effects.
- Document assessments and observations accurately and in a timely manner, reporting any changes in condition to the physician or clinical team.
- Administer prescribed medications to manage withdrawal symptoms and ensure compliance with established detox protocols.
- Monitor for potential adverse reactions or side effects of medications, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Adhere to all state, federal, and organizational policies, procedures, and regulations related to nursing care and patient safety.
- Complete incident reports and other required paperwork promptly as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team to promote team approach to client care; communicate any patient concerns or changes in medical condition to the appropriate team members promptly.
- Educate patients and families on the detoxification process, potential withdrawal symptoms, and available recovery resources.
- Provide guidance on medication usage, coping strategies, and self-care tips for after discharge.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement and training initiatives to stay updated on best practices in substance abuse treatment.
- Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all patient assessments, interventions, and care outcomes in KIPU EMR; electronic medical record system.
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
