The Material Manager position is responsible for overseeing the inventory, control, and distribution of materials and products on the job site. The MM will collaborate with the project team and subcontractors to understand, quantify, monitor, and control material usage and communicate current and future needs on the project.
What you will do
- Directs and is responsible for inventory control, receiving, unloading, and storage of materials
- Verifies material delivery is accurate per ticket and meets quality standards set by the company
- Communicates usage and needs to project team and subcontractors
- Manages / updates material tracking log and distributes to the project team weekly
- Takes direction from the team on when and where to store scheduled delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment
- Inspects and quantifies damaged or missing materials to reflect accurate value onsite
- Establishes means for quantifying, communicating, and labeling materials for proper usage
- Ability to operate forklift and/or lull (or willingness to get certified)
- Helps to maintain a safe, neat, clean, and orderly job site
- Three or more years operating heavy equipment
- Warehouse or equivalent inventory control is a plus
- Detail-oriented with a sense of urgency
- Has a working knowledge of MS office programs (primarily Excel) and general computer skills
- Demonstrates a positive "can do" demeanor, takes pride in achieving results, and has a self-starter mindset
- Can take direction
- Teamwork mentality
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to lift and move 50 lbs
- Heavy amount of walking and climbing
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
