Schedule: Day Shift (6:00am to 6:00pm) or Night Shift (6:00pm to 6:00am)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems on production and packaging equipment, including motors, motor controls, VFDs, sensors, and control panels.
- Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled equipment; read and interpret ladder logic (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell experience preferred).
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Install and modify wiring, conduit, circuits, and electrical components per NEC and plant standards.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance per the plant PM schedule; document work in the CMMS.
- Respond promptly to production line breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Maintain plant support systems including lighting, HVAC controls, compressors, ovens, refrigeration controls, and conveyors.
- Follow all food safety (GMP, HACCP, SQF), OSHA, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and arc-flash safety requirements.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous-improvement projects.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and communicate parts needs to supervision.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in industrial electricity preferred.
- 3 years of industrial electrician experience, preferably in food or beverage manufacturing.
- NC electrical license or journeyman certification a plus.
- Working knowledge of 480V 3-phase power, motor controls, VFDs, and PLCs.
- Experience with low-voltage conduit/raceway installations and structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6/6A, and fiber-optic infrastructure a plus.
- Ability to use multimeters, meggers, and other diagnostic instruments.
- NC electrical license or journeyman certification a plus.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, and work at heights or in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work in a bakery environment with exposure to heat, flour dust, moving machinery, and temperature variation.
- Adherence to GMP requirements, including hairnets, uniforms, and no jewelry in production areas.
