Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. In addition to maintaining and repairing diesel engines—particularly in ambulance applications—you will also be responsible for gas engine and passenger vehicle maintenance and general building upkeep. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical knowledge base, proficiency with power tools, and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues effectively. This role requires flexibility to handle both vehicle-related tasks and facility maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel and gas engines, including brake repairs and HVAC systems.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Assemble and disassemble engine components as needed for repairs.
- Operate heavy equipment safely while performing maintenance tasks.
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles.
- Assist with general building maintenance, including minor repairs, painting, basic plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment by promptly addressing any facility issues.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in diesel and gas vehicle technology.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role, including work on gas engines and passenger vehicles.
- Strong mechanical knowledge, including familiarity with diesel engine repair, brake systems, shocks, struts, and general maintenance practices.
- Experience operating power tools and heavy equipment safely.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance tasks (e.g., light electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry).
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
