About The Farm

Mellow Marsh was founded in 1997 to provide southeastern native plants for water quality projects such as stream restoration, storm water management, wetland mitigation, and erosion control. We currently propagate over 300 different species of native trees, shrubs, grasses, and forbs. Our plants are grown from hand-collected seed, ensuring local provenance and healthy genetic diversity.

Job Description

TWO nursery crew positions open. Job duties include:

• Re-potting plant material
• Irrigation maintenance and repair
• Pulling orders
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Weeding
• Seed collection and cleaning
  
  

Schedule

• Monday thru Thursday from 7:00am-3:30pm (paid lunch)
• Friday from 7:00am-11:30am
  
  

Start & End Date: Start as soon as able. This job is full-time. Starting temporary/seasonal, with the option to extend employment.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to do physical labor outside, year-round in all weather conditions
• Dependable, adaptable, and detail-oriented
• Working knowledge of English
• Work well in a team environment
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a production nursery
• Experience with irrigation systems
• Experience in repair and maintenance of small engines and equipment
• Familiarity with Southeastern native plants (including seed)
• Comfortable using taxonomic nomenclature and identification keys
  
  

Compensation: Starting at $15/hour, depending on experience
