Head Swimming Coach
Location: Carolina Day School – Asheville, NC
Employment Type: Part-Time/Seasonal (Winter Sports Season)
Carolina Day School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Head Swimming Coach to join our athletics team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Athletics Department, support and enhance all aspects of the swimming program, with a focus on communication, athlete development, and program culture.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about swimming and values building meaningful relationships with student-athletes. The Head Coach will play a key role in shaping the daily execution and long-term vision of the program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement practice plans that build technical and physical skills appropriate for high school athletes.
- Lead and manage the team during practices and meets ensuring competitive performance and sportsmanship.
- Oversee athlete development, including assessing skills, setting individual goals, and promoting academic and athletic growth.
- Collaborate with the athletic department on scheduling meets
- Maintain communication with athletes, parents, and school staff regarding team updates, expectations, and academic eligibility.
- Promote a positive team culture, emphasizing leadership, discipline, accountability, and respect.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience or high-level swimming experience at the high school or collegiate level required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to connect with and motivate student-athletes
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team-oriented coaching staff
- Passion for the sport of swimming and a strong commitment to character development
- High energy, positive attitude, and a growth mindset
