Carolina Crate & Pallet, a division of The P&A Group, is seeking a hands-on CNC Operator/Programmer to oversee the operation and programming of our Morbidelli NB3615 CNC machining center. This role is responsible for programming, setup, and daily operation of the machine used to cut and route wood components for custom crates and pallets. The ideal candidate will have strong technical aptitude, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate the Morbidelli NB3615 CNC machine to produce precision-cut wood components.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements and dimensions.
- Develop and adjust CNC programs using G-code or compatible CAM software (such as Maestro, CAD/CAM, or similar).
- Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, and materials; verify proper setup and alignment.
- Monitor machine performance during production and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Inspect finished parts using measuring tools to confirm dimensional accuracy.
- Perform daily cleaning, maintenance, and minor troubleshooting of the CNC equipment.
- Maintain detailed records of programs, production runs, and maintenance activities.
- Follow all safety and quality procedures; maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to optimize processes and reduce downtime.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating and/or programming CNC equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with G-code or similar CNC programming language.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Morbidelli, Biesse, or similar CNC woodworking machinery.
- Working knowledge of Maestro or other SCM Group software.
- Background in wood manufacturing, millwork, or furniture component production.
- Forklift experience a plus.
