Carolina Classic Window & Glass is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to join our team. The Estimating Manager is expected to be a leader within the organization and will be managing the estimating team and directing estimating and inbound sales processes. This leader will be expected to lead by example and carry out Carolina Classic Window & Glass Inc’s Core Values.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong organizational skills and will be capable of working in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with outside customers, building owners, architects, and engineers, and internally with all levels of management and team members.


The Estimating Manager will be working closely with their team of estimators, the Director of Construction, The Business Development & Marketing Director, and the Director of Operations. This person should have a high level of industry knowledge specific to commercial contract glass & glazing projects, systems, and products to effectively assemble estimates and lead a team assembling estimates. Additionally, they should have the ability to analyze field cost and incorporate historical and predictive costing into their and their teams’ estimates, break estimating processes down in manageable work plans, and be able to assist with implementation of organizational plans. The role will require someone with a high level of flexibility, high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and properly schedule the workload of their team. 


The estimating manager must be approachable, readily accessible, and be able to demonstrate a both a responsive and proactive approach to effectively lead their team through a team building approach. Director Supervisor: Director of Operations


Management Responsibilities (Has direct reports): Yes


Requirements:

·      A minimum of 5 years of experience in management or supervisory role is required and 10 years of experience in a management or supervisory role is highly preferred

·      A minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in the construction industry

·      A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the commercial glass & glazing industry

·      5 years or more of experience in an estimating manager role within the glass & glazing is not required, but highly preferred

·      A bachelor’s degree is not required, but highly preferred


Role & Primary Responsibilities:

Leading, Managing, and Accountability:

As the estimating manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of estimators. You will lead estimators through our estimating and inbound lead sales process, and will have the ability to train, mentor, and coach our estimators. This person will possess the knowledge to be able to answer industry questions that may arise from estimators throughout their process of assembling an estimate.

You will be responsible for managing the team, ensuring our systems and processes are being followed. The estimating manager will manage the estimating team, help the team to achieve its departmental goals set by the organization, and identify adjustments that may need to be made to bring to senior management to make the estimating team better. The estimating manager will be responsible for ensuring all estimates and proposals generated by the estimating team are reviewed and ready prior to going to final review. The estimating manager will also assist the team in following up, tracking proposals through the sales process, and assist in closing deals. The estimating manager will manage the team to ensure the department meets its overall targets. The estimating manager will manage the bid schedule and provide input on department needs.

The estimating manager will be responsible for holding members of the department accountable for carrying out Carolina Classic Window & Glass Inc’s core value, approval of time, attendance, and time off, individual productivity, revenue, and profit targets, following processes & procedures, and conducting performance evaluations.

Lead Management

The Estimating manager will be responsible for reviewing inbound leads and determining if they are a fit (opportunity) for the company and assign these identified opportunities to themselves or members of the estimating team. Additionally, they will receive opportunities from outbound leads passed over from Business Development and prepare an estimate or assign them to a member of the estimating team. The estimating manager will ensure we are meeting the proper volume of opportunities (bid output) to ensure we can hit our targets and that we are identifying opportunities that are what we’ve defined as the right fit for our model.

Estimating

In addition to managing and leading a team of estimators preparing estimates and proposals, the Estimating Manager will be responsible for preparing estimates and proposal for our most flagship or complex project opportunities. They will determine which opportunities they will need to estimate and which ones they can delegate to their team but will be expected to produce estimates and proposals individually as well.

Turnover Execution

For awarded jobs, the estimating manager will ensure all information is gathered, properly prepared, and ready for turnover to the construction team. They will review all information and make sure any awarded job is properly turned over to the construction team during the turnover, following the defined turnover process.

Meeting Sales Goals

The estimating manager will be responsible for making sure sales & productivity targets are hit. Productivity targets, such as number of estimates per month, revenue in bid output volume per month, projected gross margin in bid output volume per month. They will also have an overall revenue and gross margin target to shoot for. The estimating manager will analyze sales data and be able to present KPIs to senior leadership in leadership meetings and be able to make recommendations. They will make sure quoted jobs are followed up on, and work to close deals to ensure sales goals are met.

Accurate Estimating

One of the most important roles of the estimating manager is to ensure all estimates are accurate. They will ensure we have the right material quoted, have quotes for material, take offs are accurate, have accurate or quoted labor numbers, and ultimately ensure the estimate is accurate, proposal is written properly, and is prepared on time and ready for final review prior to going out the door.
