Key Onsite Responsibilities
- Field Supervision: Direct the daily work of laborers, mechanics, and subcontractors, providing clear guidance and ensuring all work meets project specifications.
- Schedule Management: Plan daily and weekly construction operations; schedule intermediate phases and trade rotations to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Resource Coordination: Determine and manage onsite resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, while maintaining strict attention to budgetary limits.
- Procurement & Logistics: Oversee the delivery and staging of equipment and materials; monitor onsite stock to handle inadequacies before they cause delays.
- Safety & Compliance: Act as the primary safety officer onsite, ensuring strict adherence to all health and safety standards and immediately addressing any hazards or issues.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of work in progress to ensure it aligns with the specifications provided by engineers and architects.
- Reporting: Evaluate daily progress and prepare detailed field reports for project stakeholders.
- Subcontractor Management: Hire and allocate responsibilities to contractors; negotiate onsite adjustments and ensure all external vendors fulfill their contractual obligations.
- Proven Field Experience: Significant experience as a Construction Superintendent or Onsite Project Manager.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of construction procedures, materials, and project management principles.
- Safety Leadership: Deep familiarity with OSHA, quality standards, and health and safety protocols.
- Software Proficiency: Comfortable using construction/project management software and MS Office for field reporting and scheduling.
- Communication & Negotiation: Outstanding ability to lead crews, negotiate with vendors, and communicate clearly with architects and engineers.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent time-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple onsite priorities simultaneously.
- Leadership: A team player with the authority and presence to lead a job site effectively.
