What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Verification Representative (Medical Practice) position at Carolina Asthma & Allergy Center?
General Summary: A non-exempt position responsible for the proper and timely processing of claims and payments to providers.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Reviewing medical policies of insurance carriers to ensure CAAC is aware of various criteria needed regarding procedures.
- Contacting insurance carriers via phone or website.
- Handle patient and provider calls in reference to immunotherapy and/or special procedures.
- Answer and forward incoming calls in a timely manner.
- Working miscellaneous project and reports as needed and as instructed by management.
- Provide accurate and timely estimates on immunotherapy, including patient’s out-of-pocket expense.
- Utilize necessary spreadsheets to track the immunotherapy estimates provided to clinical staff.
- Upload estimate documents to EHR and DocuSign
- Review and follow-up daily eligibility reports based upon patient appointment schedule.
- Follow up to ensure that all referrals and authorizations have been obtained to cover the appropriate dates.
- Provide eligibility information prior to vaccine reorders.
- Obtain updated referrals and authorizations.
- Contact PCP offices as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some college or Bachelor's degree in health or business administration.
Experience: Minimum two years of experience in claims processing in a health care setting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.25 - $18.00 per hour
