Teacher Responsibilities & Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons aligned with state standards and the school’s curriculum. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. In particular, excellent in ELA and Mathematics instruction is an expectation.
- Innovation: We are an Entrepreneurial Leadership school that prepares students with a focus on the Habits of Success. Willingness to plan and implement
projects and opportunities that promote an entrepreneurial mindset, durable skills, and the Habits of Success. - Prepare students for State Testing: Carolina Achieve strives to achieve 100% proficiency on state testing, beginning with students in 3rd grade. Teachers should have documented success of past testing results.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Regularly assess student performance through formative and summative assessments. Provide timely feedback to students and parents regarding progress and areas of improvement.
- Adaptability: Make
adjustments to
teaching methods and instructional practices in real time based on data and feedback. - Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment that supports student learning and development. Implement effective behavior management strategies, including the Reponsive Classroom approach.
- Belonging: Contribute to a school culture that values all people, providing a deep, legitimate feeling of belonging and inclusivity to all members of our community.
- Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to design and implement interdisciplinary projects, share best practices, and contribute to school-wide initiatives. Participate in professional development activities and school committees.
- Student Support: Provide individualized support for students with varying academic abilities, including students with special needs and English language learners. Promote social-emotional learning and character development. Serve as a Student Success Coach for students from multiple grade levels.
- Communication: Maintain open, effective communication with students, parents, and school leadership regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events. Willingly engage in the home-school partnership that is central to student success.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of best practices in education.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Licensure: North Carolina teaching license or eligibility for licensure in the appropriate subject area(s). Out-of-state candidates must meet North Carolina licensure requirements.
- Experience: Prior teaching experience in a K-8 setting is preferred, but not required. Experience in charter schools or innovative educational environments is a plus.
