Position Overview
Blind Stitch 1 sews bottom hem or side hem on all custom draperies with a blue or white belt machine.
What you'll do
- Remove draperies from rack onto blue belt machine
- Blue belt machine is operated by the employee
- Make minor adjustments for correct stitch for all fabrics
- Hem work according to the work ticket on racks
- Review work tickets for any special hemming instructions
- Notify mechanic of any major problems with machine
- Clean and oil machine daily
- Work closely with racker giving them information on direction
- Report production standard daily
- Make supervisor aware of any work-related problems that occur
- Pinning fold down the width of drapes, on sheers
- Perform other duties as assigned
Who you are
- High school graduate
- Sewing experience, including use of industrial sewing machines
- Ability to use and read a tape measure
- General knowledge of fabrics
- Ability to use hand tools
- Must successfully pass a color blindness test
- Accuracy with names, numbers, and spelling
- Capable of standing for extended periods of time
- Capable of lifting on a continuous basis
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
