Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy machinery, including excavators, forklifts, and farm equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repair, suspension adjustments, and transmission servicing to keep equipment in optimal condition.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet repair specifications.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during repair procedures or testing phases to ensure proper functionality post-maintenance.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including automotive diagnostics, HVAC systems, hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical wiring to identify issues accurately.
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed, parts used, and inspections completed for accountability and future reference.
- Assist with assembly or disassembly of machinery components during repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in heavy equipment operation and automotive repair.
- Dealership experience is highly preferred for familiarity with brand-specific systems such as Caterpillar or similar brands.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams to accurately diagnose issues.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; ability to use power tools effectively.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, air brake systems, suspension components, HVAC systems, and diesel engine repair.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate equipment like forklifts or tractor-trailers when necessary.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by excellent customer service skills when interacting with clients or team members.
- Valid certifications related to vehicle maintenance or heavy machinery operation are a plus; ongoing training encouraged.
