Essential Duties:
- Teach several sections of ELA, English courses for students in grades 6-8.
- Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students.
- Utilize diverse instructional strategies to teach students both in small groups and one-on-one settings.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that support consistent routines and student accountability.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design and development.
- Provide updates to parents about student progress, via both written reports and in-person conferences.
- Design, administer, and assess formative and summative assessments to measure student achievement and growth.
- Serve as an advisor for a group of students, offering support, mentorship, and guidance to help them thrive academically and personally.
- Participate in extracurricular responsibilities, including assisting with sports teams or monitoring student clubs and events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Humanities, Education, or related required. Master's degree strongly preferred.
- At least 3 years of English teaching experience.
- Previous experience working with middle school students.
- Ability to teach full range of middle school English courses.
- No teaching license or credential is required.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
- Detail-oriented and resilient.
Additional Desired Qualities:
- A desire to be involved in extra-curricular activities as well as the broader school community.
- Experience working in independent schools preferred, but not required.
Potential Benefits: Compensation and benefit packages are competitive but will differ by school and will typically depend on geographic location, your experience, and your level of degree.
