Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of and experience in hands-on and integrated learning, as well as early childhood development and literacy skills; be highly motivated, hard-working, collaborative, enthusiastic about working with young children, energetic and flexible; demonstrate a desire to learn; and show initiative.
- Have a strong pedagogical background and be invested in collaborating with colleagues and working closely with early elementary-aged students. In addition to having the required professional and educational background, we seek an enthusiastic, energetic candidate.
- Build a joyful and nurturing classroom community that sparks intellectual curiosity and growth for all students, and demonstrates clear and affirming classroom management.
- Collaborate with one’s grade level team to plan and teach an integrated, mission-aligned, early elementary program, including literacy, writing, math, science, social studies, and social emotional learning.
- Administer and analyze assessments to differentiate for a range of learners.
- Maintain consistent communication with parents/guardians through formal reporting (progress reports and conferences) as well as more informal check-ins.
- Co-write a monthly newsletter about grade-level curriculum and activities; share students’ work with Director of Communications to post on social media.
- Support school-wide events, including Back to School Night, math mornings, portfolio day, field day, and admissions events.
- Supervise children in the classroom, during recesses and dismissal, and on field trips.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Elementary Education or related degree required.
- Master's degree (preferred).
- 2 years of teaching experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; credibility and ethical conduct.
- Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to write and format professional correspondence, memos, and support documentation.
- Mature judgment and discretion; ability to maintain confidentiality and composure under pressure working with sensitive or confidential information.
- Consistent and prompt attendance; conscientious about timeliness of assignments and the quality of work product.
- U.S. Work Authorization required.
