Carnegie Hall Ushers are part of a dedicated team creating extraordinary experiences for audiences with world-class customer service and support.
Reporting to the Front-of-House Manager, Ushers play a vital role in the Carnegie Hall experience by welcoming, guiding, and accompanying guests to their seats across three concert venues. As frontline ambassadors of a national historic landmark and vital cultural center, Carnegie Hall Ushers ensure a seamless audience experience with proactive assistance and by minimizing disturbances.
Throughout their shift, Ushers will be properly attired in Carnegie Hall-issued uniforms and maintain high standards of hygiene due to their frequent interaction with the public. Ushers receive training in guiding guests to safety in times of emergencies with a commitment to their well-being.
Upon hiring, Ushers will be assigned four days to work performances based on Carnegie Hall’s production schedule. At least one of these days must be Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. The opportunity to work additional days will be made available on an as needed basis.

Qualified candidates must be able to:
- Work a flexible schedule which will include weeknights, weekend days/evenings, and holidays.
- Assist in the safe evacuation of patrons from the facility and have the physical capacity and presence of mind to act in an emergency.
- Stand for extended periods of time as well as climbing and descending stairs regularly in the performance of job duties.
- Lift up to 25 lbs.
Successful candidates must have:
- Professional demeanor and customer-service approach.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive work-ethic.
- An appreciation of music, with knowledge of classical music and prior customer service experience a plus
