State Adoption Manager

What We Seek

You're someone who loves turning complexity into action. You enjoy coordinating projects with lots of moving pieces, building relationships across teams, and keeping important initiatives moving forward. You're detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of quality.

As a State Adoption Manager, you'll manage curriculum adoption opportunities within assigned states and serve as a key partner to teams across Carnegie Learning. Working closely with Sales, Product, Curriculum, Marketing, Legal, and other stakeholders, you'll coordinate adoption activities from planning through submission, ensuring requirements are met, deadlines stay on track, and opportunities are positioned for success. Through your work, you'll help expand access to the instructional solutions that support educators and students every day.

What Your Day Will Look Like

  • Manage curriculum adoption activities for assigned states, coordinating projects from planning through submission and review.
  • Develop and maintain adoption project plans, timelines, and deliverables to ensure deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Review state adoption requirements and communicate expectations, risks, and key milestones to stakeholders.
  • Partner with Sales, Product, Curriculum, Marketing, Legal, and other teams to gather content, secure approvals, and coordinate submission materials.
  • Monitor adoption schedules, regulatory updates, and state requirements to ensure compliance throughout the adoption process.
  • Track project status and proactively communicate updates, risks, and action items to stakeholders.
  • Support the development and maintenance of adoption-related processes, templates, resources, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and increase efficiency across adoption planning and execution activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to adoption submissions and outcomes.
  • Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

What Should Be In Your Bookbag

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Communications, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5 years of experience managing complex projects, programs, operations, curriculum initiatives, educational publishing processes, or similar cross-functional work.
    • Strongly preferred: Experience in K–12 education, educational publishing, curriculum development, or education technology, particularly in roles involving state curriculum adoptions or instructional materials review processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple teams and levels of an organization.
  • Experience interpreting requirements, identifying risks, and developing plans to ensure successful project execution.
  • Comfort working in a dynamic environment where priorities, timelines, and requirements may evolve.
