Civil Engineering Senior Project Manager Job Description
The Civil Engineering Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing civil engineering projects from inception to completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable standards and regulations. The ideal SPM should possess strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills to manage multidisciplinary teams and maintain client relationships.
The Civil Engineering Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for profitably managing all contract administration, coordination, and design activities to CPC quality standards while maintaining relationships with all stakeholders on assigned projects. CPC Clients will include Federal, State, Municipal, and Private Sector entities, and the CPC PM must be equally comfortable in all environments.
The SPM coordinates the entire design & coordination process from planning stages to full project completion and product delivery. This individual will often oversee multiple medium-sized projects, a single large project, or an assigned scope within a single large, complex project. The SPM is the primary point of contact for the CPC Client from project inception through final delivery and is primarily responsible for CPC representation and client satisfaction.
The SPM is expected to demonstrate leadership by adhering to company standards and policies, achieving shared goals, and fostering high morale and commitment.
Responsibilities
- Determine and define the scope of work, deliverables, and resources needed to complete the project
- Draft and submit a budget based on the scope of work and resource requirements
- Develop a complete schedule of activities and strategies to deliver the project on time and within budget
- Prepare and lead internal kickoff meetings to present the scope of work to the design team
- Prepare and monitor monthly billing and revenue projections
- Track project financial performance and ensure profitability targets are met
- Prepare and present progress reports, proposals, subconsultant agreements, and technical documentation
- Coordinate efforts across the entire project between architects, designers, engineers, and subconsultants
- Coordinate and obtain necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites
- Identify CPC Staff and other resources required to perform the scope of services contracted adequately
- Manage costs in order to meet the budget
- Provide direction to the design team, sub-consultants, subcontractors, and vendors
- When delays or problems occur, the PM is the project’s first responder, able to make the appropriate decisions and/or changes required to move the project past the issues
- Organize, direct, and chair project progress meetings
- Issue progress updates as needed regarding the project’s performance, costs, and timelines
- Select, engage, and manage sub-consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering preferred
- 10 -15 years of experience in Stormwater, Land Development & Government Agency projects
- Florida P.E. License required
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Salary is based on experience
Salary : $125,000 - $150,000
