What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute - Paraeducator SPED position at Carmel Unified School District?
As needed, Under general supervision of the site principal or designee, assist the Special and/or General Education Teacher(s) in the preparation and delivery of materials for the delivery of curriculum to individuals and small groups of students with specialized learning needs; monitor progress of students; provide safe and constant supervision of students during recess and at other times as assigned by the site principal; and do related work as assigned. Assist with Positive Behavioral Support (PBS).
Paraeducator - Special Education are distinguished from a Paraeducator primarily by the relative independence of action and intensity of the instructional requirements outlined in a student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Following training in specific programs and techniques, the Paraeducator-Special Education typically works directly with students according to a highly structured plan. The behavioral and instructional components of the program are often individualized and require precise adherence.
