OSITION TITLE: Outdoor Custodial Technician (Full-Time)
DIVISION: Parks and Natural Resources
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
FLSA STATUS: Full-time, Non-Exempt, starting at $20 per hour
SHIFT: Thursday- Monday 1:30pm- 10pm
Purpose Of Position
The purpose of this position is to perform skilled custodial functions and grounds maintenance tasks at multiple recreational sites in the community. This position is a full-time year-round position and reports to the Park Operations Manager for regular assignments, task prioritization, and other personnel issues.

Essential Job Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. The routine tasks may include:
- Maintain park restroom facilities including:
- Spraying cleaners, scrubbing and wiping down fixtures, mopping, restocking, eliminating nests, spider webs, and dust
- Monitoring for the proper function of lights, locks, doors, sinks, and toilets
- Monitor and remove litter throughout recreational areas
- Empty, restock and clean trash cans, recycle cans, and pet waste stations
- Clean and organize furniture, fixtures, equipment, and shelters at various park locations
- Inspect and maintain clean, stocked fleet vehicles
- Routinely and seasonally clean the maintenance office
- Maintain custodial supply inventories at satellite locations
- Perform snow and ice management including plowing, salt application, and shoveling
- Cut limbs, remove fallen trees, prune, blow mulch, leaves, and debris
- Monitor and maintain equipment and tools to keep them in operable condition
- Report faulty equipment, damaged recreational assets, or safety concerns
- Safely operate vehicles and equipment such as trucks and UTV’s
- Utilize personal protective equipment and site safety equipment and monitors the work environment to ensure the safety of other employees, volunteers, and the public
- Assist and support volunteer and natural resource program activities
- Comply with all codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures
- Perform other related duties as required
- Ability to work independently and efficiently without limited supervision
- Ability to operate MS office computer utilities, tablet, and smartphone applications
- Ability to communicate effectively; includes the ability to interact with members of the public to resolve problems
- Ability to analyze, carry out, and modify management plans as required
- Ability to operate or be trained to operate a variety of equipment and tools associated with park maintenance operations
- Ability to exert heavy physical effort necessary to perform certain park maintenance tasks, involving some combination of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials weighing up to 90 pounds
- Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, pollen, odors, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, dead animals, disease, or pathogenic substances
- Required to work weekends and afternoon/evening hours
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years related experience involving custodial operations or grounds maintenance
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position
- Driving is an essential function of this position and an individual must possess and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license and be insurable
- Must pass a background check that encompasses national, state, and local searches, throughout employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
