We are seeking a Full or Part-Time detail-oriented and professional Medical Front Desk/Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. In this dual-capacity role, you will be the first point of contact for our patients while ensuring the accuracy of the revenue cycle through expert insurance verification and billing support.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Coordination: Greet patients warmly, answer incoming phone calls, maintain accurate incoming referral documentation and faxes, organize medical records, obtain patient information and register in electronic health record (Athena), schedule and reschedule appointments, inform the patient of items or information needed for the visit, manage high-volume check-in/check-out processes, process requests for medical records release, and oversee the daily provider schedule to ensure optimal clinic flow.
Insurance Verification: Verify patient eligibility and benefits in real-time on Availity, payer portals and through calls to insurance companies, obtaining necessary authorizations or referrals prior to scheduled appointments.
Financial Management: Collect co-pays and outstanding balances and handle patient account processing and collections.
Billing Support: Strong understanding of patient billing processes and explanation of benefits (EOB), troubleshoot denials and appeals, communicate with payers to resolve reimbursement discrepancies, estimate patient financial responsibility for visit, assist patients with billing questions and arrange payment plans when needed.
Medical Assisting: CMA/RMA can also assist in the back with rooming paitnets, as well as doing different procedures such as performing skin testing, allergy injections and spirometry when needed; the main need is current in the front office
Qualifications
Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, Minimum of 1 years working in a medical front office position, experience with insurance verification, previous insurance billing experience or medical assistant certification highly preferred
Technical Proficiency: Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office, familiarity with standard office equipment such as printers and fax machines, Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Practice Management software preferred (familiarity with Athena is a plus)
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex insurance benefits, claim status and financial responsibilities to patients, interact respectfully with physicians, peers and patients, be team oriented, self-motivated and lead by example, adhering to HIPAA guidelines
Attention to Detail: Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high accuracy in data entry and patient records.
