Job Purpose and Focus
Assist in the integration of all required components in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) and the CAEHS 0-3 Early childhood curriculum and philosophy. Responsible for assisting the classroom teachers as appropriate in all programming related functions relevant to the development and education for infants/toddlers in the classroom
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- High School Diploma with Infant/toddler CDA
- Associates degree in Child Development
Essential Functions and Representative
- Maintain working knowledge of HSPPS
- Maintain working knowledge of Child Care Licensing for the State of Michigan
- Assist with meals in all classrooms
- Assist the Teachers as a substitute classroom teacher as needed
- Attend staff meetings and professional development as needed
- Maintain flexibility (based on program needs) regarding hours and classroom assignments
- Classroom coverage as needed
- Maintain a consistent learning environment and routine when classroom teacher is out of the room.
- Assist with setting up the classroom and arranging materials for daily activities
- Actively participate in all classroom activities including ongoing positive engagement with children
- Maintain and continually update knowledge and skills related to child development best practices
Terms of Employment
This is a non-bargaining unit position. The salary for this position will be determined based on the Early Head Start Federal Programs salary scale and grant funding availability. This is a 46-week position with approximately 28-32 hours per week.
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in a school setting. Must be able to work in environments with varying degrees of noise and activity, adapt to frequent interruptions, and collaborate in a team-focused atmosphere.
Evaluation/Performance Measurements
Ongoing self-assessment and reflective supervision with CAEHS Director. Health will be maintained on the established program assessment form. Individual supervision and support will be provided as specific professional needs are identified and documented within the self-assessment process. Individual training will be provided as specific professional development plan incorporated in the self-assessment process.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.60 per hour
