Laboratory Supervisor

We're seeking an experienced Laboratory Supervisor to lead our laboratory operations. Position Summary

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our construction materials testing laboratory, ensuring compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, ODOT, and other applicable testing standards. This role provides leadership to laboratory staff, coordinates workflow, maintains quality assurance programs, and works closely with project managers, field technicians, and clients to ensure timely and accurate testing services.

What You'll Do

As Laboratory Supervisor, you will:

  • Lead and supervise daily laboratory operations while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Schedule and prioritize laboratory workload to meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure testing procedures comply with ASTM, AASHTO, ODOT, and applicable quality standards.
  • Review laboratory data, calculations, and reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Oversee calibration, maintenance, and documentation for laboratory equipment.
  • Coordinate with project managers and field staff to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical issues and implementing process improvements.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and recommend equipment purchases as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction materials testing, laboratory operations, or a related field.
  • Thorough understanding of ASTM, AASHTO, and applicable testing standards.
  • Experience with laboratory quality control and quality assurance programs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory data management software.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current certifications through ACI, NICET, WAQTC, ODOT, ICC, or other industry-recognized organizations.
  • Experience maintaining IAS or AASHTO laboratory accreditation.
  • Experience supervising laboratory technicians in a construction materials testing environment.
  • Knowledge of soils, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete testing procedures.
