What are the responsibilities and job description for the PC Builder position at Carlsbad Repair Center?
We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and energetic team member to join our PC assembly department. This role focuses on assembling desktop computers under the supervision of a master PC builder and an experienced technician.
No advanced PC building experience is required. We are happy to train the right person. What matters most is having excellent hands, good coordination, and the ability to follow instructions carefully. If you are naturally precise, steady, and take pride in doing things the right way, you will do well in this role.
The ideal candidate maintains a clean, orderly workspace at all times and understands that organization is critical to quality work. You should be naturally tidy, consistent, and disciplined—someone who resets your workspace after every task without being asked.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on environment. We are looking for someone who stays focused, works with urgency, and minimizes distractions. Personal phone use should be limited to emergencies only while working (unless on a break).
As this is a small repair shop, you must be willing to help with a variety of tasks, including basic repairs on other devices, general shop organization, cleaning, and taking out the trash. Being a team player is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble desktop PCs accurately under supervision
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times
- Organize tools, parts, and inventory
- Assist with general shop cleanliness and organization
- Support additional repair tasks as needed
Performance Expectations:
- Keep your workspace clean throughout the day (not just at the end)
- Stay actively engaged in work during scheduled hours
- Use downtime to clean, organize, or assist others
- Follow instructions carefully and complete tasks correctly the first time
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs
- Strong hand coordination and dexterity
Work Environment & Expectations:
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are required
- We run a tight, organized shop—everything has a place, and every task is done with intention
Who This Is NOT For:
- Those who prefer a slow or unstructured work environment
- Those who struggle to stay off their phone while working
- Those who dislike cleaning or repetitive organization
- Those who need constant supervision to stay on task
Hiring Process:
- Candidates will complete a short written assessment
- Candidates will be asked to organize a workstation as part of the interview
Compensation & Growth:
- Hourly pay: [insert range based on experience]
- Opportunity to grow into advanced PC building and diagnostics roles
Application Requirement:
Please include a short paragraph describing what a perfectly organized workspace looks like to you.
This position is ideal for someone who values structure, takes ownership of their work environment, and wants to grow their skills alongside experienced builders. Reliability, consistency, and a strong work ethic are required.
