ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.

- Evaluates, selects, and requisitions new library materials.
- Assist teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials.
- Inform teachers and other staff members concerning new materials the library acquires.
- Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials, and instruct teachers and students on use of the system.
- Arrange for interlibrary loan of materials of interest or use to teachers.
- Work with teachers in planning those assignments likely to lead to extended use of library resources.
- Promote appropriate conduct of students using library facilities.
- Help students to develop habits of independent reference work and to develop skill in the use of reference materials in relation to planned assignments.
- Present and discuss materials with a class studying a particular topic, on the invitation of the teacher.
- Participate at curriculum meetings.
- Counsel with and give reading guidance to students who have special reading problems or unusual intellectual interests.
- Arrange frequently changing book-related displays and exhibits likely to interest the library's patrons.
- Prepare and administer the library budget.
- Supervise library assistants in the performance of their duties.
- AA Degree or 60 approved college hours.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
