What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator/Truck Driver position at CARLOAD EXPRESS INC?
General Summary:
The Truck Driver works as part of a Construction team completing all railroad construction projects, completing maintenance on equipment, installing signs and assisting other areas of Maintenance of Way and the railroads as needed.
General Duties:
- Perform construction or maintenance tasks associated with railroad tracks, crossings, etc.
- Operate dump truck and other heavy equipment/machinery
- Operate manual tools and power tools
- Ability to adhere to all safety rules and procedures
- Perform basic maintenance on all machinery
- Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) required – Class A preferred
- Experience operating construction and heavy equipment
- Welding experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to operate various power tools and heavy pieces of machinery
- Must be able to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, procedure, and safety manuals, operating and maintenance instructions and other work-related information
- Effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and associates in a clear, concise, courteous, and professional manner

- Ability to perform physically strenuous work for extended periods of time
- Ability to exert up to 150lbs.
- Ability to work in tight, confined spaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions: (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet)
- Ability to work in conditions that include loud noise and fumes
